Manchester General Hospital forms part of North Manchester General Hospital, a major healthcare campus serving communities across Greater Manchester. In recent years, the site has undergone significant transformation as part of a long-term programme to modernise facilities, improve staff and patient environments, and prepare the hospital for future healthcare delivery. A key milestone in this journey was the opening of North Manchester House, a new modular office building delivered as part of the enabling works supporting the wider redevelopment of the hospital site.
The ongoing investment programme aims to create modern, flexible healthcare environments capable of supporting future generations of patients and staff. Redevelopment plans include new facilities, improved infrastructure, and enhanced workplace environments designed to support high-quality healthcare services across the campus. The vision for the site extends beyond healthcare alone, forming part of a broader regeneration strategy focused on improving wellbeing, accessibility, and community outcomes.
Within this evolving healthcare environment, Capricorn Contracts was appointed to provide specialist window shading solutions that would enhance privacy, comfort, and light management in clinical and staff-facing spaces.
Working alongside contractor Novus and architect bp Architecture, Capricorn Contracts supplied and installed a tailored package of blinds designed to meet the practical requirements of a busy healthcare setting. The project was completed in January 2022 and formed part of the ongoing improvement of facilities within the Manchester General Hospital estate.
Our installation included seven R200S chain-operated roller blinds and 175 R200PF Perfect Fit roller blinds. The combination of these systems provided an effective solution for managing natural light, reducing glare, and enhancing privacy across a range of healthcare environments while maintaining a clean and contemporary appearance.
The Perfect Fit system was particularly suited to areas requiring a neat, integrated blind installation, delivering reliable performance with minimal maintenance requirements. Together, the installed products help create more comfortable spaces for patients and staff while supporting the operational needs of a modern healthcare facility. By combining robust products with professional installation, Capricorn Contracts delivered a practical, long-lasting shading solution tailored to the demands of the healthcare sector.
This version stays factual and avoids unsupported claims while still giving the project far more substance and context.
