Project overview

The Northern Centre for Cancer Care is a specialist healthcare facility dedicated to providing cancer treatment and support services within the North East. Facilities of this nature are designed to deliver high-quality clinical care while also creating welcoming, comfortable environments that help support patients throughout their treatment journey. In healthcare settings where patients may spend extended periods receiving consultations, therapies, and ongoing care, factors such as privacy, comfort, and effective light management play an important role in the overall patient experience.

Modern cancer care environments require carefully considered interior solutions that balance practicality with patient wellbeing. From consultation rooms and treatment areas to administrative and support spaces, window shading systems must provide reliable performance, ease of operation, and long-term durability while contributing to a calm and professional healthcare setting.

Capricorn Contracts was appointed to provide specialist shading solutions throughout the facility, helping to enhance both comfort and functionality across a range of occupied healthcare spaces.

OUR SOLUTION

Working alongside Graham Construction and P+HS Architects, Capricorn Contracts supplied and installed a tailored blind package for the Northern Centre for Cancer Care in Newcastle, completing the project in September 2021. The installation was designed to provide effective light control, privacy, and ease of use while meeting the operational requirements of a busy healthcare environment.

Our scope of works included the supply and installation of 75 V110 wand-operated roller blinds. The wand-operated system was selected to provide simple, reliable control of daylight and privacy while reducing the need for chains or cords, making it particularly suitable for healthcare applications.

In addition, we supplied and installed 15 R200S manual roller blind systems complete with fascia and guide wires. These systems provide a neat and professional appearance while ensuring stable blind operation in areas where enhanced control and performance are required.

The completed installation helps create a more comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals by reducing glare, improving privacy, and supporting effective management of natural light throughout the facility. By delivering durable, healthcare-appropriate shading solutions and a high-quality installation service, Capricorn Contracts contributed to a clinical environment that supports both patient wellbeing and day-to-day operational efficiency.
